Ohio State and The Pope
One can not go to an Ohio State football game these days without seeing the beautiful RPAC facility. It is a new building which displays just one of many things Ohio State has to offer. It was an extremely costly construction which took many years. While it is a sight for sore eyes and an excellent place to workout, it has not gone without speculation. Many people are upset with the $127 fee charged to Ohio State students on a quarterly basis because of the fact that not everyone uses the facility. Ohio State, in a way, is taking advantage of all their students in charging everyone $381 annually. Some kids who scrap for pay for college, are forced to pay for this costly charge. If you look back many centuries, one can draw similarities between Ohio State and the Popes who allowed induldences to be sold. The Popes wanted Peterdom to be built to show the power of the church and the catholic church used indulgences to finance this costly construction. This forced people, who also scrapped for money, to pay these expensive indulgences in order to receive the salvation of God. I, for one, can see many similarities between the two situations and the motives to the financing of their expensive buildings.
